NSF Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Internal Competition Dates

The University has announced its process for the NSF's Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) program (see below). Our college typically does not have a large number of labs with needs for major research equipment or instruments--but we do have some, and this is an opportunity to compete for funds to acquire needed instrumentation. Please see the process below for submitting internal letters of intent to my office, and, as always, please send any questions or ideas to me.

Last year, the Office of Research, Innovation, & Economic Development developed a revised internal process for handing submissions to the NSF Major Research Instrumentation program. That process has been updated slightly for the current year (January 2018 submission deadline). Full details and deadlines can be found here.
Letters of intent (LOIs) are due on July 20, 2017. As with last year, PIs must communicate their intention to apply to their college Associate Dean for Research (ADR) prior to submitting a LOI. Each college will be limited to three acquisition proposals for internal competition (no limit for development proposals). Each College Research Office is responsible for determining their college’s equipment priorities and submitting their college's LOIs.
Should you have questions regarding this revised process, please contact limited-submission@ncsu.edu, with "MRI" in the subject (or reply to this email).
