Dear Colleagues,
Several announcement for you today on this hot, humid, chance-of-thunderstorms day here in Washington. Let’s get to it!
New Start-Up Grants Guidelines are Out!
If you haven’t read our Start-Up Grant guidelines in a while, please check out the newest ones. Our most popular program has been refreshed. The grants now have higher award levels ($40K for Level I’s and $75K for Level II’s). We’ve also streamlined the description of the program, emphasizing three major points:
·         creating or enhancing experimental, computationally-based methods or techniques for humanities research, teaching, preservation, or public programming;
·         pursuing scholarship that examines the history, criticism, and philosophy of digital culture and its impact on society, or explores the philosophical or practical implications and impact of digital humanities in specific fields or disciplines; or
·         revitalizing and/or recovering existing digital projects that promise to contribute substantively to scholarship, teaching, or public knowledge of the humanities.
Read the new guidelines here. The next deadline is September 16, 2015. Be there or be square.
Videos of Project Lightning Rounds
Every year, every ODH digital humanities grantee comes to Washington and gives a short, 3-minute lightning talk about their project. It is a great way to find out about all the cool projects we fund. I’m pleased to say we have YouTube videos up from the 2014 rounds:
Announcing 6 NEH/DFG Bilateral Digital Humanities Program Awards
We are pleased to announce 6 awards from our NEH/DFG Bilateral Digital Humanities Program from our September 2014 deadline.  Each project represents a collaborative effort between at least one partner based in the United States and one partner based in Germany. This was an exceptionally competitive round, as we received nearly double the applications compared to previous years. Congratulations to all the awardees! See the full list here.

That's all for now. More to come in future updates.Keep innovating.

Brett
