The university has announced that nominations are open for several awards. The process for two of these major awards will be managed by the Research Office. These are

This award, named in honor of the former governor, is made annually to a member of the faculties of the University of North Carolina system who, in the opinion of the Board of Governors Committee, “during the current scholastic year, has made the greatest contribution to the welfare of the human race.”  The university deadline for nominations is Friday, October 28, 2016. The college deadline, therefore, for submitting nominations to my office will be Friday, October 14. The college research committee will review these nominations.
