DARPA Opportunity: Forensic Social Science Supercolliders

Dear Colleagues,

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Defense Sciences Office (DSO) is developing a new program tentatively titled "Forensic Social Science Supercolliders." If you are interested, now is the time to start dialogue with the program officer.

This program recently solicited "information on new ideas, approaches, and capabilities for developing interactive simulations that can be used to calibrate the validity of different social science research methods and tools in drawing 'strong inference' about causal mechanisms that can lead to emergent complex behaviors in human social systems." For more information, see the Request For Information on FedBizOpps.gov.

The next step in DARPA's process is to develop a one-time Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) to solicit proposals. Although the BAA has not yet been released, the first step is to start a conversation with program officer, Dr. Adam Russell, because DARPA's program officers uniquely collaborate with researchers to develop the BAA. There will be no limit on the amount of funding that can be requested, but funding will be commensurate with the scope of work.

Please let me know if you are interested in this opportunity and I would be glad to discuss it further with you.

Best Regards,
Derek Gatlin
