UNC System ROI & IPG Pre-Proposals-Deadline: 3:00 pm, Friday, March 16, 2018

UNC-GA has officially announced another round of RFPs, both for the Research Opportunities Initiative (ROI) and the Inter-Institutional Planning Grant (IPG). Both RFPs available at https://research.ncsu.edu/rdo/funding/uncga-roi/

  • The UNC System Research Opportunities Initiative (ROI) provides targeted funding for innovative and potentially game-changing research projects. Funded by a recurring annual appropriation from the North Carolina General Assembly, the ROI represents a significant financial investment in the UNC system’s strategic goals. Priority research areas eligible for ROI funding include advanced manufacturing; marine and coastal science; defense, military, and security; pharmacoengineering; energy; and data science.
  • The UNC System Inter-institutional Planning Grant (IPG) Program is an initiative designed to promote collaboration among UNC institutions (particularly between larger and smaller institutions) and across disciplinary boundaries. The intention of this award program is to incentivize stronger collaborative relationships within the UNC system to increase the system’s competitiveness in attracting external funds. This is a one-time award to initiate a collaborative team effort, with the expectation that the team will use the funding period to position itself to obtain external funding in support of future activities related to the project.
NC State is limited to submitting four proposals (as the lead institution) in each of these two programs. As in previous years, the Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Economic Development will prioritize pre-proposals from NC State following an internal competition that will be managed by ORIED. Please follow the pre-proposal guidelines laid out in the RFPs. All pre-proposals should be considered final and ready for submission to UNC-GA.

Important Dates:
  • Friday, March 16, 2018 at 3:00 pm Pre-proposals must be submitted to ORIED via InfoReady Review
  • Friday, March 23, 2018: ORIED will submit the selected pre-proposals to UNC-GA
