The Data Science Initiative (DSI) is excited to welcome guest speaker Dr. Richard Hendra to NC State. Dr. Hendra will give a talk on “Data Science to Improve Social Programs.”
Dr. Richard Hendra directs the Manpower Demonstration Research Corporation's (MDRC) Center for Data Insights. During his RED talk, Dr. Hendra will describe how MDRC, a social policy research organization, uses data science to complement MDRC’s mission of building knowledge and solutions to some of the nation's toughest social policy challenges. All of these efforts have a common goal of leveraging already collected data to derive actionable insights to help improve well-being among low income individuals and families. Dr. Hendra will also discuss how data science fits within long term learning agendas.
Note to CSC and Statistics graduate students: these lectures have been approved to count toward the required seminars for graduate students.
If you are unable to attend this event in person, the presentation will be live-streamed. Please use the link below to view. Contact Laura Kroeger ( lakroege@ncsu.edu) if you have any questions.
