National Endowment for the Humanities Collaborative Research Program

The Collaborative Research program aims to advance humanistic knowledge through sustained collaboration between two or more scholars. Collaborators may be drawn from a single institution or several institutions across the United States; up to half of the collaborators may be based outside of the U.S. The program encourages projects that propose diverse approaches to topics, incorporate multiple points of view, and explore new avenues of inquiry in the humanities for scholars and general audiences.  Note that updated guidelines for the upcoming application cycle will be posted closer to the deadline.  You may used the guidelines for the previous cycle to get a sense of what is involved in assembling an application.  

National Endowment for the Arts "Our Town" Program

Our Town is the National Endowment for the Arts’ creative placemaking grants program. Through project-based funding, NEA supports projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into efforts that strengthen communities by advancing local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes. Successful Our Town projects ultimately lay the groundwork for systemic changes that sustain the integration of arts, culture, and design into local strategies for strengthening communities. These projects require a partnership between a local government entity and nonprofit organization, one of which must be a cultural organization; and should engage in partnership with other sectors (such as agriculture and food, economic development, education and youth, environment and energy, health, housing, public safety, transportation, and workforce development). Matching grants range from $25,000 to $200,000, with a minimum cost share/match equal to the grant amount.

NSF CAREER Q&A Session

The note bellow is from the Research Development Office. Our college landed its first ever CAREER award this year, and I am sure we have other strong junior faculty who would be able to write excellent proposals. 

For PI's submitting an NSF CAREER proposal in July 2020, the Proposal Development Unit (PDU) is hosting a Q&A session answering any questions you may have about the nitty gritty of writing your proposal.

Please join the PDU for an online discussion on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 from 1-2:30 pm ET.  

NEH Summer Stipends Program--Call for Notice of Interest

The National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipends program provides $6,000 to support continuous full-time work on a humanities project for a period of performance of two consecutive months. NEH funds may support recipients’ compensation, travel, and other costs related to the proposed scholarly research. NEH staff will host a webinar describing the program, including eligibility, the application and nomination processes, and suggestions for writing an effective application. The presentation will include a chance to ask questions. It will be Wednesday, May 20, 2-3 PM EDT.
