New Funding Opportunities

These are selected funding opportunities from the Research Development Office. The first item listed, a limited submission program, will be of particular interest to scholars interested in the criminal justice system. Others may seem oriented toward STEM, but these also are likely to have important social scientific and humanistic elements.

The National Consortium for Data Science (NCDS) Data Fellows (Due April 7)

The National Consortium for Data Science (NCDS) is accepting proposals for NCDS Data Fellows through  April 7, 2016. See theCall for Proposals for proposal requirements and online application form.

 

This program provides $50,000 in funding to early-career faculty within five years of first tenure-track/tenured appointment working in the area of data science and data-focused business problems.

Game-Changing Research Incentive Program (GRIP) Q&A Session (WEBINAR)

The Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development has issued its call for proposals for an important new program, the Game-Changing Research Incentive Program (GRIP) at https://research.ncsu.edu/rdo/funding/internal-funding/grip/  I am writing to urge that you consider leading or joining a team to apply for this funding. This is an exciting program, made even more compelling with the participation of RTI International, and the Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology and Science.

GRIP will, in the words of the announcement, “allocate more than $1,500,000 over three years to fund exceptional research teams and projects that span NC State colleges. DEADLINE EXTENDED: Scholarship of Community Engagement Institute (Now due Wednesday, February 24th)

Applications for the Office for Faculty Development's Scholarship of Community Engagement Institute, to be held over Spring Break, are open now through 11:59 P.M. THIS WEDNESDAY, February 24th. Building upon OFD’s successful pilot institute last year, the Scholarship of Community Engagement Institute will take place over three days during Spring Break 2016: Monday, March 7th, Wednesday, March 9th, and Friday, March 11th. Participants will gain knowledge in the unique aspects of conducting research on community engagement as well as hear from experienced engagement researchers. They will begin work on their Scholarship of Community Engagement projects and receive feedback from their fellow participants as well as session leaders. For more details about the Institute, please visit https://ofd.ncsu.edu/events-and-programs/institutes/. Oregon State University Resident Scholar Program: Now Accepting Applications

The Oregon State University Libraries Special Collections & Archives Research Center (SCARC) invites applications for its Resident Scholar Program.

Now in its ninth year, the Resident Scholar Program provides research grants to scholars interested in conducting work in the Special Collections & Archives Research Center. Stipends of $2,500 per month renewable for up to three months (for a total maximum grant award of $7,500) will be awarded to researchers whose proposals detail a compelling potential use of the materials held in the Center. Grant monies can be used for any purpose.

The U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences is the Army's lead agency for the conduct of research, development, and analyses for the improvement of Army readiness and performance via research advances and applications of the behavioral and social sciences that address personnel, organization, training, and leader development issues. The basic research program supports research projects that are designed to expand fundamental knowledge and discover general principles in the behavioral and social sciences.
