The note bellow is from the Research Development Office. Our college landed its first ever CAREER award this year, and I am sure we have other strong junior faculty who would be able to write excellent proposals. 

For PI's submitting an NSF CAREER proposal in July 2020, the Proposal Development Unit (PDU) is hosting a Q&A session answering any questions you may have about the nitty gritty of writing your proposal.

Please join the PDU for an online discussion on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 from 1-2:30 pm ET.  

NEH Summer Stipends Program--Call for Notice of Interest

The National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipends program provides $6,000 to support continuous full-time work on a humanities project for a period of performance of two consecutive months. NEH funds may support recipients’ compensation, travel, and other costs related to the proposed scholarly research. NEH staff will host a webinar describing the program, including eligibility, the application and nomination processes, and suggestions for writing an effective application. The presentation will include a chance to ask questions. It will be Wednesday, May 20, 2-3 PM EDT.

NSF Funding: ADVANCE: Organizational Change for Gender Equity in STEM Academic Professions

ADVANCE: Organizational Change for Gender Equity in STEM Academic Professions (ADVANCE)

The ADVANCE program contributes to the National Science Foundation's goal of a more diverse and capable science and engineering workforce. The program seeks to build on prior NSF ADVANCE work and other research and literature concerning gender, racial, and ethnic equity. The NSF ADVANCE program goal is to broaden the implementation of evidence-based systemic change strategies that promote equity for STEM2 faculty in academic workplaces and the academic profession. The program provides grants to enhance the systemic factors that support equity and inclusion and to mitigate the systemic factors that create inequities in the academic profession and workplaces. The solicitation includes four funding tracks:  Institutional Transformation (IT), Adaptation, Partnership, and Catalyst.  Please see the RFP for additional information on each track.

Artificial Intelligence and Technology Collaboratories for Aging Research (P30 – Clinical Trial Optional)  

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications for the Artificial Intelligence and Technology Collaboratories (AITC) for Aging Research program. The AITC program will serve as a national resource to promote the development and implementation of artificial intelligence approaches and technology through demonstration projects to improve care and health outcomes for older Americans, including persons with dementia (PWD) and their caregivers.

Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Centers 2021 (P50 Clinical Trial Optional)

This FOA invites applications for research center grants designed to advance the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and amelioration of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This FOA seeks applications from institutions that meet the qualifications for a multi-disciplinary program of IDD research that will include: 1) Cores that facilitate interdisciplinary and translational research in IDD and its dissemination, and that support IDD-related projects funded by other sources; and 2) at least one specific research project related to one of several focus themes identified as an area of research need in IDD.

NSF Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases (EEID)

The multi-agency Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases program supports research on the ecological, evolutionary, and social drivers that influence the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases. The central theme of submitted projects must be the quantitative or computational understanding of pathogen transmission dynamics. 

R.L. Rabb Science and Society Symposia

Dr. R. L. (Bob) Rabb was a professor of entomology at NC State, and a pioneer in developing ecologically sound approaches for managing insect pests. An endowment developed in his honor provides funding for symposia at NC State that will elevate appreciation within and outside the academic community for the ways in which interactions among natural sciences, social sciences and the humanities can foster flourishing societies and sustainability of all forms of life.

NIA-designated ADRCs serve as major sources of discovery into the nature of Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD) and into the development of more effective approaches to prevention, diagnosis, care, and therapy. They contribute significantly to the development of shared resources that support dementia-relevant research, and they collaborate and coordinate their research efforts with other NIH-funded programs and investigators.
