Invitation to Participate in the Humanities Extension Program: Note from Melonie St. John

Colleagues, Melonie St. John in the Nonprofits Institute is managing the Humanities Extension Program. This is a great opportunity to share your knowledge with teachers and students in nearby schools; for those of you who have included K-12 outreach as part of the "broader impacts" of your research, this is a great opportunity to improve on those impacts. Remember, this program is open to all College faculty, including those from the social and behavioral sciences. Please read this note and share with your colleagues or sign up to visit the schools--they are eager to hear from you!

Dear Faculty,

The CHASS Humanities Extension Program at NC State seeks to match public school classroom teachers with CHASS NCSU faculty who are interested in sharing their expertise in the Humanities field with public school students. Dr. David Zonderman from History serves as the program’s academic director. The goals of the program are to provide: 1) An opportunity for students to engage with and have a better understanding of the Humanities - what the disciplines are, what they do, how they engage with and give perspective on contemporary issues 2) Public engagement with and support of the Humanities at NC State 3) High school students with exposure to potential majors at NC State.

We have 67 teachers in NC interested in visits for Spring 2015. If you are interested in participating in the CHASS Humanities Extension Program, please fill out the application.  Once we receive your application, it will be reviewed and you will be contacted if you are selected and your topic/content matches a school's interest.

All the best,

Melonie St. John
