Following are funding opportunities of interest to our faculty. The first two are limited submission opportunities, so you will need to indicate your interest (not the full application) by this Friday, December 18. Others are open submission. Corporation for National & Community Service: Social Innovation Fund 2016 Pay for Success Grant Competition
This grant will provide up to $10.6 million in grants to eligible nonprofit organizations, including   public or non-profit universities, faith-based organizations, and state and local governments (and other political subdivisions) seeking to advance and evaluate emerging models that align payment for social services with verified social outcomes. Consistent with the broader mission of the SIF, the PFS Competition intends to encourage the implementation of PFS projects in order to enhance the reach and impact of innovative community-based solutions in low-income communities.

NEA: Art Works
The NEA recognizes these catalytic effects of excellent art, and the key role that arts and design organizations play in revitalizing them. To deepen and extend the arts' value, including their ability to foster new connections and to exemplify creativity and innovation, Art Works welcomes projects that: Are likely to prove transformative with the potential for meaningful change, whether in the development or enhancement of new or existing art forms, new approaches to the creation or presentation of art, or new ways of engaging the public with art; Are distinctive, offering fresh insights and new value for their fields and/or the public through unconventional solutions; and Have the potential to be shared and/or emulated, or are likely to lead to other advances in the field.Limit: 1 per institution, with some exceptions.Internal due date:  Notification of interest: 12/18/2015Agency due date: 2/18/2016


Non-Limited Funding Opportunities



National Endowment for the Humanities: Digital Humanities Implementation
This program awards substantial grants to support the implementation of experimental projects that have successfully completed a start-up phase and demonstrated their value to the humanities. Such projects might enhance our understanding of central problems in the humanities, raise new questions in the humanities, or develop new digital applications and approaches for use in the humanities. The program can support innovative digital humanities projects that address multiple audiences, including scholars, teachers, librarians, and the public. Agency due date: 2/17/2016

Algorithms in the Field encourages closer collaboration between two groups of researchers: (i) theoretical computer science researchers, who focus on the design and analysis of provably efficient and provably accurate algorithms for various computational models; and (ii) other computing and information researchers including a combination of systems and domain experts (very broadly construed – including but not limited to researchers in computer architecture, programming languages and systems, computer networks, cyber-physical systems, cyber-human systems, machine learning, artificial intelligence and its applications, database and data analytics, etc.) who focus on the particular design constraints of applications and/or computing devices. Each proposal must have at least one co-PI interested in theoretical computer science and one interested in any of the other areas typically supported by CISE. Proposals are expected to address the dissemination of both the algorithmic contributions and the resulting applications, tools, languages, compilers, libraries, architectures, systems, data, etc

These grants support professional development programs in the humanities for school teachers and for college and university faculty. These grants support professional development programs in the humanities for school teachers and for college and university faculty. NEH Summer Seminars and Institutes may be as short as one week or as long as four weeks. NEH Summer Seminars and Institutes: provide models of excellent teaching; provide models of excellent scholarship; broaden and deepen understanding of the humanities; focus on the study and teaching of significant topics, texts, and other sources; contribute to the intellectual vitality of participants; and build communities of inquiry.

The High-End Instrumentation (HEI) Grant Program encourages applications from groups of NIH-supported investigators to purchase or upgrade a single item of expensive, specialized, commercially available instruments or integrated systems that cost at least $600,000. The maximum award is $2,000,000. Types of instruments supported include, but are not limited to: X-ray diffraction systems, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectrometers, DNA and protein sequencers, biosensors, electron and confocal microscopes, cell-sorters, and biomedical imagers.
No limit, as long as requests are for different types of equipment. Please consult your colleagues.
