Data Science Initiative Winter Symposium

Colleagues, I received this from Trey Overman, the Data Science Initiative program manager--many of you may be interested in this symposium.

Symposium on Friday, February 5th in the Duke Energy Hall (Room C) at Hunt Library on Centennial Campus.  This event is free and will run from 9:00 - 5:00, with lunch provided and a reception to immediately follow.  A detailed agenda will be forthcoming.

The goals of this event are twofold: In addition to introducing the Initiative and hosting plenary talks on external partnerships and existing resources within the university, we hope to foster internal collaboration by using the afternoon to highlight existing research efforts across the university.  This will consist of very short presentations by faculty members on individual research topics in a speed dating format, organized by college.

In addition to requesting your participation in this event, I am also asking for your help in disseminating the information about this event to your faculty and for your help in encouraging faculty involvement.  In order to make this event a success, we need the involvement of your faculty and researchers to ensure a robust collection of presentations in the afternoon session. To participate in this event, please contact Trey Overman, DSI Program Manager, at 919-513-6741 or hboverma@ncsu.edu.
