New process for NSF Major Research Instrumentation Program

Colleagues, I received this from the University Research Office. While our college does not use major equipment in the same way as our colleagues in the sciences or engineering, there are some disciplines that do use such equipment, so please make a note of this, Please contact the research office if you have any questions.

As was announced previously, the Office of Research, Innovation, & Economic Development has developed a revised internal process for handing submissions to the NSF Major Research Instrumentation program, starting with this cycle. Letters of intent are due on July 14. Per the new process, before submitting an internal pre-proposal to the Research Development Office (RDO), PIs must communicate their intention to apply to their college Associate Dean for Research (ADR). Each college will be limited to three proposals for internal competition, and will be responsible for determining their college’s equipment priorities. More details about the deadlines and requirements for this program can be found here.

Should you have questions regarding this revised process, please contact limited-submission@ncsu.edu, with "MRI" in the subject
