Three funding opportunities of interest to humanists

The following opportunities were shared in a recent newsletter from the Research Development Office. Please contact the College Research Office if you are interested in pursuing these opportunities.

NEA Research Grants in the Arts

Research Grants in the Arts support research that investigates the value and/or impact of the arts, either as individual components of the U.S. arts ecology or as they interact with each other and/or with other domains of American life.  Research projects may examine factors that enhance or inhibit arts participation, individual level outcomes of arts participation, or societal or community level outcomes of arts/cultural assets.  Please note that this opportunity is distinct from the NEA Grants for Arts Projects opportunity, which is limited submission in nature and must be administered through NC State's limited submission process.

Application due date:  3/30/2020

NEH Fellowships

NEH Fellowships are competitive awards granted to individual scholars pursuing projects that embody exceptional research, rigorous analysis, and clear writing.  Applications must clearly articulate a project’s value to humanities scholars, general audiences, or both.  Fellowships provide recipients time to conduct research or to produce books, monographs, peer-reviewed articles, e-books, digital materials, translations with annotations or a critical apparatus, or critical editions resulting from previous research.  Projects may be at any stage of development.

Application due date:  4/8/2020

NEH Research and Development Grants

Research and Development Grants support work on the entire range of humanities collection types including, but not limited to, moving image and sound recordings, archaeological artifacts, born digital and time-based media, rare books and manuscripts, material culture, and art.  Applicants must demonstrate how advances in preservation and access through a Research and Development project would benefit the cultural heritage community by supporting humanities research, teaching, or public programming.

Application due date:  5/15/2020
