Get Involved in the Humanities Extension Program!

The Humanities Extension Program at NC State University connects North Carolina public school classroom teachers with faculty from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences who are eager to share their expertise with students in grades K-12. The Humanities Extension Program creates new partnerships and builds on existing relationships between our faculty and public schools across the state. It fosters an understanding of and appreciation for the humanities and social sciences among students and exposes students across the state to potential areas of study at NC State. The faculty who participate in this program consistently enjoy the experience and request to be matched again in the future.

How can you help?
Encourage your faculty to complete their Faculty Profiles on the CHASS site, specifically the "Interests" section. Matches are made based on teacher requests and faculty interests listed on their profiles. We struggle to find matches when profiles are incomplete.

Remind your faculty about the benefits of this opportunity, and encourage them to respond to requests about Humanities Extension opportunities whether they would like to participate or not. Even a response declining the invitation to participate is helpful so that we can look for other options among faculty in the college.

Thank you for your support of the Humanities Extension program! If you have any questions about the program, or would like to get involved, please contact S.E. (Sara) Spencer at sespenc2@ncsu.edu.
