Graduate Training Event: ComSciCon - Science Communication Workshops for Graduate Students

Graduate students in science, technology, health, mathematics, and related fields fields are invited to apply for ComSciCon-Triangle 2017, a science communication workshop organized by and for graduate students in the Research Triangle.

At this two-day conference, attendees will have the opportunity to develop their science communication skills, network with fellow graduate students passionate about science education and outreach, learn from science communicators from a variety of settings, and participate in exercises to get feedback on their own pieces. Click here for examples of published pieces from past ComSciCon attendees.

ComSciCon-Triangle is a local version of the national ComSciCon workshop, held annually in Cambridge, MA. Founded in 2013 by graduate students at Harvard and MIT, over 300 graduate students nationwide have already participated in the national ComSciCon programs.


Local Workshop Dates

When: Saturday, March 25th, 2017 and Saturday, April 1st, 2017 (~9am-2pm)
Where: Archie K. Davis Conference Center at Research Triangle Park

Online applications will be open until January 6, 2017 at 11:59pm. 50 attendees will be selected through a competitive application process. Please apply only if you can commit to attending BOTH days of the workshop.

ComSciCon-Triangle is supported by:  Duke School of Medicine, Duke Science and Society, Research Triangle Park, RTI International, UNC Chapel Hill Graduate School, UNC TIBBS, UNC Research, UNC Biology, and UNC Psychology and Neuroscience. ComSciCon-Triangle is organized by graduate students from Duke University, NC State University, and UNC Chapel Hill.
