New funding opportunities from Research Development after the jump. Some of these may not be directly related to our core disciplines, but many of these should involve humanists or social scientists--or both!






University Global Partnership Network (UGPN) Research Collaboration Fund 

International Affairs is pleased to announce the 6th annual Call for Proposals for the UGPN Research Collaboration Fund. The UGPN is a network of top universities around the world including NC State, University of São Paulo (Brazil), University of Surrey (United Kingdom) and The University of Wollongong (Australia). The 6th round of funding aims to promote multi-lateral collaboration among academics and researchers across the consortium. 

Funding of up to $40,000 (US$10,000 plus approximate AU$, £, R$ equivalent) for quadrilateral collaboration (i.e., involves a researcher from each partnering institution) is available for selected proposals.  The full Call for Proposals is available on the University Global Partnership Network Research Collaboration Fund website

Proposals are due Wednesday, May 31, 2017.

Australia Awards - Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships

The 2018 Australia Awards–Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are now open for applications. These awards are the Australian Government’s competitive, merit-based scholarships and fellowships providing opportunities for Australians to undertake study, research or professional development overseas and for overseas citizens to do the same in Australia. Awards available for participants in the US include:
·         Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship
·         Endeavour Vocational Education and Training Scholarship
·         Endeavour Research Fellowship
·         Endeavour Executive Fellowship
The Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships build Australia’s reputation for excellence in the provision of education and research, support the internationalization of the Australian higher education and research sectors and offer high-achieving Australians opportunities to increase their knowledge and expertise in their field.

Applications for the 2018 round of the Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are open and will close on 11:59 pm (Australian Eastern Standard time) 30 June 2017. Further information is on the application page.

NIH: Data Coordinating Center for Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet (UC4)
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites an application from the Program Director/Principal Investigator of the Data Coordinating Center (DCC) that is currently supporting the research being performed by the complex and effective Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet network. This FOA will support the design and conduct of new-onset trials (as selected by the TrialNet Steering Committee) aimed at preservation of insulin-producing cells in individuals with new-onset diabetes.RFA-DK-17-507

NIH: NIAMS Rheumatic Diseases Research Resource-based Centers (P30) 
The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) requests applications for the NIAMS Resource-based Centers Program (P30) for rheumatic diseases research areas within its mission. The Resource-based Centers will provide critical research infrastructure, shared facilities, services, and/or resources to groups of investigators conducting research on rheumatic diseases, enabling them to conduct their independently-funded individual and/or collaborative research projects more efficiently and/or more effectively, with the broad overall goal of accelerating, enriching, and enhancing the effectiveness of ongoing basic, translational, and clinical research and promoting new research within the NIAMS mission. RFA-AR-18-004
