USDA: NIFA Women and Minorities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Fields Program (WAMS)
The purpose of this program is to support research, education/teaching, and extension projects that increase participation by women and underrepresented minorities from rural areas in STEM. NIFA intends this program to address educational needs, as determined by each institution, within broadly defined areas of food, agriculture, natural resources, and human sciences. For the FY 2019 award cycle, NIFA intends to support projects with a target audience of K-14 students. 4 year undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral focused projects will not be awarded under this grant announcement.

NSF: Sustained Availability of Biological Infrastructure (SABI) Core Program
This program supportscontinued operation of extant infrastructure that will advance basic biological research. Infrastructure supported under this program may include cyberinfrastructure, instrumentation, experimental or observational facilities, biological living stocks which have ongoing costs of operation and maintenance that exceed the reasonable capacity of the host institution. Proposals must make a compelling case that sustained availability of the proposed infrastructure will advance or transform research in biological sciences as supported by the National Science Foundation.
NSF: Program on Fairness in Artificial Intelligence in Collaboration with Amazon (FAI)
NSF and Amazon are partnering to jointly support computational research focused on fairness in AI, with the goal of contributing to trustworthy AI systems that are readily accepted and deployed to tackle grand challenges facing society. Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to transparency, explainability, accountability, potential adverse biases and effects, mitigation strategies, validation of fairness, and considerations of inclusivity. Funded projects will enable broadened acceptance of AI systems, helping the U.S. further capitalize on the potential of AI technologies.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to accelerate the development and validation of sample sparing assays that can be applied for studying the human immune system in health and disease. Development of new, cutting-edge sample sparing assays will lead to maximum use of the human-derived specimens by significant reduction of sample volumes/amounts required or by simultaneous multi-parameter assessments of immune function. As a cooperative agreement mechanism, investigators will be expected to use a milestone-driven approach to assay development and testing, share data through NIAID’s ImmPort web portal, and participate in a consortium with other awarded grantees. Budgets are limited to $375,000 annual direct costs for project assay development, and up to $500,000 annual direct costs to manage the program’s Infrastructure and Opportunity Fund (for supplements to consortium participants).
Sponsor deadline: 7/30/2019
NSF: Broadening Participation in Engineering (BPE)
