NIH: Academic-Community Partnership Conference Series (R13)

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages Research Conference Grant (R13) applications to conduct health disparities-related meetings, workshops, and symposia. The purpose of this series to bring together academic institutions and community organizations to identify opportunities for reducing health disparities through the use of Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR). The objectives of meetings conducted as part of this award will be to: (1) establish and/or enhance existing academic-community partnerships; (2) identify community-driven research priorities; and (3) develop long-term collaborative CBPR research agendas. Thus, it is expected these partnerships will lead to grant applications for the support of CBPR projects designed to meet identified community needs.

Track One: Value and Impact. These research projects aim to examine the value and/or impact of the arts in any topic area(s) by using data and methods appropriate to the proposed research questions. Track Two: Experimental and Quasi-Experimental Designs. These research projects aim to test the causal or inferred-causal impact of the arts on individual or cohort outcomes by using experimental or quasi-experimental design methods appropriate to the proposed research questions.This Track is only for projects relying primarily on experimental or quasi-experimental research methods.

NEH’s Humanities in the Public Square grant program

We received this notification from the National Humanities Alliance, of which we are a member.

Please join us for a conversation on NEH’s Humanities in the Public Square grant program with Jeff Hardwick, Assistant Director of the Division of Public Programs at NEH. The Humanities in the Public Square program funds projects that draw on humanities scholarship to deepen public understanding of today’s most challenging issues and pressing concerns. The first awards were announced in December 2015, and awardees included colleges, universities, associations, and state humanities councils. A new call for proposals will be issued in the coming months.

Data Science Short Courses--College Funding Available

As part of the Data Science Initiative at NC State, the Data Science Short Course Series is a set of short, intensive courses on Data Science, including an introduction to the subject, machine learning, the R software package, text mining, and others. DEADLINE MAY 4: Humanities Access Grants: National Endowment for the Humanities

Humanities Access grants help support capacity building for humanities programs that benefit one or more of the following groups: youth, communities of color, and economically disadvantaged populations.

Humanities Access grants establish or augment term endowments (that is, endowments whose funds are entirely expended over the course of a set time period) to provide funding for existing programs at institutions such as public libraries, local and regional museums, historical societies, community colleges, HBCUs and tribal colleges, Hispanic-serving institutions, archival repositories, and other cultural organizations. Humanities Access grants are intended to seed longer-term endowment-building efforts.

During the 2012-2013 academic year, the Publications unit at SAS partnered with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at NC State to support a Graduate Industrial Traineeship (GIT). This research appointment has proven positive, and SAS has agreed to continue this program for the 2016-17 Academic Year. The deadline for proposals is May 16, 2016.

Call for Proposals: University Global Partnership Network Research Collaboration Fund

The UGPN is now accepting proposals for the 2016 UGPN Research Collaboration Fund. These awards are designed to go beyond pump-priming and early contact partner outreach; they will support substantive engagement that leads to high quality outputs, such as international research training for graduate students or early career faculty, publication of joint papers from collaborative research, or joint research bids.  Proposals should be jointly submitted by faculty from at least two of the UGPN partner institutions.
